Congratulations to Shine Gerkariah on being named a Voyager Scholar!

Congratulations to Shine Gerkariah on receiving the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship for Public Service! Shine, a member of Brown's Class of 2028, is one of four Brown juniors named to the 2026–28 cohort.

In our lab, Shine works on biomedical signal processing and machine learning for multimodal sensor fusion, using signal processing to support bioinstrumentation design. Shine concentrates in computational chemistry and chemical physics.

The Voyager Scholarship supports students preparing for careers in public service. It provides up to $50,000 in financial aid for undergraduate costs, a $10,000 stipend and free Airbnb housing for a self-designed summer work-travel experience before senior year, a 10-year, $20,000 post-graduate travel stipend, and a network of mentors and public-service leaders.

We are proud of Shine and look forward to the work ahead.
